What started as a local idea has grown into a national mission—supporting seniors across Australia to stay active, healthy, and independent. From our early days in Queensland to expanding services nationwide, our focus has always been on delivering care that meets people where they are. Here’s how our story has unfolded.
Our Journey Began in 2012
Summit Health Physio Australia Pty Ltd began delivering allied health services in aged care facilities across Queensland. Through the Aged Care Funding Instrument (ACFI), our team supported residents with pain management—work that was both rewarding and deeply needed.
As time went on, it became clear: Australia’s aging population was growing faster than residential facilities could keep up. Seeing this challenge, our Director, Peta Weisfelt, took a bold step. Rather than wait for more beds to become available, she asked a new question:
“How can we bring care to more people—right where they live?”
This moment sparked a shift. A commitment to reimagining how health and independence could be supported at home. And that’s how our broader mission to support ageing Australians in the community began.
Expanding the Vision in Canberra
In 2015, a move to Canberra confirmed what Peta already knew—limited access to quality care at home was not just a Queensland issue. It was a national one.
With the support of her husband, Craig Roxburgh (Director of Summit Health Solutions), Peta took on a new challenge: to build a mobile allied health team that could bring expert care directly into people’s homes.
Together, they assembled a passionate and skilled team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Exercise Physiologists, Personal Trainers, Massage Therapists, and Dietitians—delivering personalised, in-home services designed to help older Australians live well, age well, and stay independent.
Listening, Evolving, and Delivering with Purpose
As Summit Health Solutions grew across Canberra and the surrounding regions, we remained focused on one key principle: listen first. By working closely with care managers, aged care providers, and families, we gained a deep understanding of each client’s unique needs, goals, and challenges.
This insight shaped how we deliver high-quality, professional in-home allied health services—with a team that continues to grow in both expertise and heart.
We expanded our services to include nail care, and strengthened our team with passionate professionals who share our commitment to person-centred care.
By thinking beyond the usual models, we’ve created tailored health solutions that elevate outcomes and consistently deliver on our service promise.
Finding New Ways to Deliver Care
In 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic impacted communities across Australia, many of our vulnerable clients faced isolation and sudden service disruptions.
Understanding the impact of social isolation and reduced mobility, we adapted quickly—launching our Live TeleWellness Exercise Programs via Zoom to support clients in staying active, connected, and engaged from the safety of their homes.
These programs run in 8-week blocks, with three live sessions per week, providing routine, motivation, and physical benefits during a time when many felt most alone.
Our commitment to innovation and continuity of care has helped ensure that no one was left behind—even in the most uncertain times.
Our growth continued into the Darling Downs and Toowoomba regions, reaching more seniors with accessible, in-home care. This expansion allowed clients to benefit from Occupational Therapy, Exercise Physiology, and Massage Therapy—all aimed at supporting mobility, independence, and a better quality of life.
Ongoing
In 2023, Summit Health Solutions moved into a dedicated office and clinic space in Deakin, Canberra—creating a central hub for our ACT team and allied health services. This space now supports in-service staff training, equipment management, and a welcoming base for team connection, collaboration, and care.
It also marks the launch of Summit HQ, our public-facing private practice offering Massage Therapy, Physiotherapy, and Clinical Pilates—further expanding our ability to support the wider community in staying mobile, well, and connected.
